How website submissions are handled.
Last updated August 7, 2026
This website collects only the information people choose to submit through membership, project, event, showcase, and contact forms. The society uses that information to organize participation, respond to messages, review proposals, and run student activities.
Information we collect
Depending on the form, this may include your name, email address, class year, academic interests, availability, participation preferences, project ideas, event preferences, and message content. The server also records limited technical information needed to prevent abuse, such as a one-way hash derived from the network address and a shortened browser identifier.
What not to submit
Please do not send sensitive personal information through these forms, including identification numbers, financial account details, passwords, or medical records.
How information is used
- To contact you about the society or reply to your message
- To understand membership, project, and event interest
- To review student proposals and participation needs
- To protect the forms from spam and repeated abuse
Who can access submissions
Access is limited to authorized student organizers and system administrators who need it for society operations. The society does not sell form information.
Storage and deletion
Submissions are stored in the society’s configured database. Organizers should archive or delete records when they are no longer needed. You may request a correction or deletion by contacting the society from the email address connected to the submission.
External links
This site links to Oberlin, partner schools, Google, Instagram, and other external services. Their privacy practices are controlled by those services, not by the society.
