We are considering a future event where student teams could demonstrate projects and explain their design decisions. The format, date, venue, funding, and approval path are not confirmed.
What would have to be true
We should not announce a competition before the basics exist.
A public event becomes responsible only when the organization can support the teams, the space, the safety requirements, and the follow-through.
- A confirmed student organizing team
- A faculty or staff approval path
- A suitable venue and realistic schedule
- Clear safety and equipment rules
- A budget and source of support
- Enough active teams to make the event worthwhile
- A fair review process and accessibility plan
Possible format
A showcase first, competition only if it adds value.
The founding team should decide whether ranking teams would improve learning or simply add pressure. A demonstration night may be the better first event.
Design review
Mentors give structured feedback on problem definition, evidence, engineering choices, and communication.
Small challenge
A limited prompt, common constraints, and transparent criteria, only after resources and oversight are confirmed.
